A LOT of things can happen in a year. Many of these are unimportant, and just slip from our minds in as long as a month. But some things are worth remembering for a long time. The beginning of the year seems so far away, and hard to visualize.
Memorable things aren't always good, or always bad. But I prefer to focus on happy memories. Sometimes it's the simplest things that stick with you. For my birthday this year, all I asked for was a box of my favorite cereal, that isn't sold in stores anymore. When I got it, it was the best present I can ever remember getting, which is sad... But I thought it was worth it. My brothers, Jimmy, and I hung out just about everyday this year. We never really did more than sitting around the house, but we always seem to have stories. One amazing thing that happened this year, was I got to go see Journey, live in concert. It was so cool, because we bought the tickets last minute, and still had pretty good seats. Pat Benatar and lover boy opened up for Journey that night. That was my first concert ever, and I'll never forget it. Also, I went on vacation with my boyfriend this year, and it was the farthest from Illinois I have ever been and my first time ever seeing the ocean. We stayed in Washington D.C. with a friend of Evan's, and went to Virginia Beach our last day of visiting. That was an awesome experience that I can treasure forever.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow (Week 15)
I don't spend much time in the snow, considering I absolutely despise the cold weather. But on few occasions, my brothers have convinced me to go build stuff and play in the snow.
We used to make simple things like really tall forts and have snowball fights, tunnels in the snow drifts along the road and driveway, and we would always attempt to make snowmen. (That we never officially accomplished) One night we were building a snowman, and we got some snow near the road, so he was dirty and kind of ugly. After adding random things to account for his face, we noticed that he looked like the alien, Roger, off of the TV show American Dad. That was probably the most fun we had with our snowman, because we chose to drop kick him, and beat him until it was once again, just a pile of snow.
If I could build anything I wanted, it would be an awesome house, filled with different rooms, and even be furnished with snow. I would make it like 10 feet tall, and there would be couches, beds, even a toilet. It would be awesome to hang out in, just because it would all be made from snow. If I could never get cold, I would stay out there all the time, and even make the snow into shapes of food and it would be like its own little home.
Until nighttime came, boredem would set in, and I would join the family for a movie and some nice hot chocolate.

The Secret Doorway (Week 14)
When I reach the floor, I would find myself in a huge, dark room, where I would see a note posted on a wall lit up in that one place. On the paper I would see writing that says, "I've been expecting you." I would go get my brothers and my friend Jimmy to go exploring with me. As we walked down a dimly lit hallway, there would be clues leading us where to go. We would enter a lot of different creepy rooms, that almost look like torture chambers. Yet, still no sign of life. Finally, we come to a closed door, and we hesitantly decide to enter. Inside we find the one thing we never expected.........
A bright, cheerful room, full of all my friends and family. They all yell surprise, and suddenly I realize it was all just a surprise party for my birthday!!My brothers and Jimmy were in on it the entire time.. Totally unexpected.. but everything turns out wonderful, and it's a happy ending for all. :)

Thanksgiving (Week 13)
Thanksgiving is pretty much the same in my family as any others. We go to my grandparents, where we all sit down to share a meal together. We have turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes, rolls, etc. We always seem to rub out of rolls and gravy.
The rolls are always my favorite. I also like the candied yams, which we never seem to have enough of. Lastly, I really like green bean casserole as well.
I never eat any of the cranberry sauce or baked beans, because those are never very good. We also always have turkey left over, because grandma usually cooks two.
For desserts, we always have something different. We have the traditional Pumpkin Pie, plus many others.
